New Essay Competition - Health Politics in an Interconnected World
The 13th Berlin Roundtables on Transnationality will be held on the topic "Health Politics in an Interconnected World" (Berlin, 1 - 5 December, 2010).
How can national governments and international agencies respond to global challenges of health and social well-being? How do local realities influence global health discourses, technologies, and regulatory approaches? What kind of methodological instruments do different disciplines provide in order to study and account for evidence?
The Irmgard Coninx Foundation, in cooperation with the WZB and Humboldt-University Berlin, invites young scholars and experts from the field to participate in the essay competition for the upcoming Roundtables.
The conference will be accompanied by three evening lectures:
Helen Epstein (Journalist and Author)
"Global Health after the Cold War: New Forms of Influence and Dominance"
Frank Gotthardt (Head of Public Affairs, The Merck Group)
“The Praziquantel Donation Project“
Thomas Pogge (Professor of Philosophy and International Affairs, Yale University)
“The Health Impact Fund: A Solution towards Global Health?”
