The Irmgard Coninx Foundation, a non-profit-organization, was founded in Munich in 2001. In association with the Social Science Research Center Berlin (WZB) and the Humboldt-University Berlin, the Irmgard Coninx Foundation organizes the Berlin Roundtables on Transnationality. The Roundtables provide a forum for international young academics and journalists to discuss the political and social challenges facing a global civil society.
The Irmgard Coninx Foundation is based on the idea that some of the profits made by a media company should be used to promote public debates. The Berlin Roundtables are hoping to contribute to an international discourse about the phenomenon of transnationality.

As a critical forum and for the purpose of international networking, the Foundation also established an Advisory Council consisting of participants of previous Berlin Roundtables.
The Foundation has been solely founded to organize the Berlin Roundtables on Transnationality and will not consider funding requests for projects that are not linked to the Roundtables.
