I Have a Dream: Political Culture in Divided Societies

The Roundtable series organized under the heading “I Have a Dream: Political Culture in Divided Societies” concentrates on different issues relating to civic education and communication as well as to reconciliation and conflict resolution in various conflict scenarios. The underlying interest is to explore best practices aimed at reducing violent conflicts and fostering understanding and respect among different ethnic and social groups in societies troubled by inner-urban tensions in connection with youth violence, socio-economic inequalities and differences or by wider political, ethnic and/or religious cleavages resulting from different collective memories or from past injustices.

The following Roundtables address(ed) these issues:

Cultural Pluralism Revisited: Religious and Linguistic Freedoms
Twelfth Berlin Roundtables on Transnationality, 7 – 11 April 2010

Memory Politics: Education, Memorials and Mass Media
Eleventh Berlin Roundtables on Transnationality, 21 – 26 October 2009
